The following terms and conditions apply to all of the tours offered by History Tours of Britain:-

Eligibility

The tours are aimed at adults who are interested in history and are not suitable for children, although teenagers accompanied by an adult will be considered. You should be able to walk at least 2 miles  a day and to climb steps – Hampton Court Palace in particular is a large building with huge grounds so you want to be fit enough to enjoy it.

What is Included in the Tour Cost

All of our tours are based in the United Kingdom and start in London. As attendees come from all over the world, flights are not included and you will need to make your own way to the meeting point on the first day.

All of our tours include sightseeing, entry fees and coach travel for days out, overnight accommodation, breakfasts and evening meals. Some tours also include lunches. You can find out what is included on the “Cost Includes” tab of each tour page

What is Not Included in the Tour Cost

  • Travel from your home to London and back again.
  • Taxis or other special travel arrangements you need due to flight delays or needing to be at the airport earlier on the last day.
  • Personal items, souvenirs etc.
  • Travel Insurance – We require that everyone takes out their own personal travel insurance in case of flight delays, cancellations, medical problems etc. as we cannot be held liable for your non-attendance.

Registration

Registration is via our online booking system. Spaces are reserved on a first-come-first-served basis and we only have 20 spaces because these are exclusive tours designed to give a real personal experience.

To complete registration, the following is necessary:-

  • Filled in booking form
  • Payment of deposit which is then applied to the payment of the tour price. Final balance is due 90 days before the tour starts, you will be given the precise date when you book.

Currency

All payments are quoted in Great British Pounds (sterling) as this is the currency of the UK where the tours take place.

Late Registration

Any registrations made after 90 days before that particular tour starts will need paying in full immediately.

Waiting List

If the tour is fully booked, we can place your name on a waiting list and will contact you if a space becomes available. Please advise us if you wish to remove your name from the list at any time.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

When you book a place on one of our tours you are entering a legally binding contract, which, if cancelled, will incur a cancellation charge.

Per person cancellation fees are based on date of notice to History Tours of Britain and must be sent in writing via email to info@historytoursofbritain.com

  • Cancellation within 14 days of booking, if earlier than the 90 days preceding the tour – Full refund. See specific tour details for date.
  • Cancellation after 14 days of booking – Deposit retained.
  • Cancellations made in the 90 days preceding the start of tour – no refund.
  • Cancellation of tour by History Tours of Britain – Full refund.

Please note that no refunds will be given for any missed meals, accommodation or days out. Please understand that there will be no exceptions to our cancellation policy.

Insurance

History Tours of Britain does not offer any form of travel insurance or cancellation insurance. As cancellation charges may apply if you need to cancel your place, we require all tour members to take out travel insurance/holiday insurance to cover you needing to cancel your place on the tour for illness or unforeseen events, or any travel delays you may experience in getting to London.

Physical and Medical Considerations

To get the most from our tours you should be in good physical condition and be able to cope with walking around historic buildings, which may have uneven flooring and involve long walks and climbing stairs.
Whilst historic attractions welcome all visitors, the Tower of London for example has winding staircases, narrow passageways and cobbled pathways which wheelchair users would find difficult.

Itinerary Changes

History Tours of Britain reserves the right to make improvements to the itinerary or changes, if circumstances beyond our control make them necessary. We will make every effort to keep to the planned itinerary and will contact you if any changes are made.

General Advice

Please make sure that you can get to London for pick up at the appropriate time and date. Make sure that you have passports, visas (if required) etc. sorted out well in advance of your holiday.

Tour members coming from the United States, Australia or other far away places may want to come to the UK a few days early, which is advisable anyway as you do not want to start the tour off being exhausted after travelling. We can advise you on places to visit and landmarks to see while you are in the UK, to make the most of your holiday.

Smoking Policy

For the comfort of all tour participants, we ask that there be no smoking during all group activities, including excursions, talks and meals.

Allergies and Medical Concerns

While on a tour or day trip with History Tours of Britain, you will be making use of restaurants and cafés which are not affiliated with or operated by History Tours of Britain.

Although History Tours of Britain makes every effort to pass on information about any health concerns or allergies, this is done freely and without legal obligation. History Tours of Britain does not undertake any duty to care for the health of its attendees and does not accept any liability for guests on tours or day trips with respect to any pre-existing or new medical conditions or to any other hazard encountered while involved in activities it organises.

In the case of allergies, History Tours of Britain can pass on the contact details of the restaurants and hotels used on a particular tour so that the attendee can talk to the head of catering regarding their allergy.

What our guests said

This is a "must do" for any history buff who wants to participant in an in-depth study of the Tudor Dynasty with like-minded individuals. Unlike other tours which would have merely taken us to various Tudor-related locations, the Anne Boleyn Experience provided us with the opportunity to watch Professor Eric Ives speak. Professor Ives did not merely write a book about Anne Boleyn; he is THE person who wrote THE book about Anne Boleyn. Beyond that, staying at Hever Castle, Anne Boleyn’s childhood home, was surreal. Being surrounded by history, as well as Hever’s magnificent gardens, is what truly made the Anne Boleyn Experience an "experience." It was magical.
